  1. Hey there Waisea my name is Billy and I am from the Summer Learning Journey programme. It's great to see that you have been posting a few blogs and working hard over the summer break.

Thanks for sharing the Christchurch cathedral for this activity. It was really sad that it was damaged in the earthquakes. Is that your reason for choosing it?

Do you know how long it took to build?
I wonder what it looks like on the inside.

Have you ever been to Christchurch and visited this cathedral?

    Thanks, Billy

  3. Hey Waisea,

It's great to see another activity blog post from you :) I can see that you have been actively blogging this summer holidays.

I went down to Christchurch from Auckland a year ago and I visited the Christchurch Cathedral. A huge part of the building had been destroyed so it was getting reconstructed. Not only the cathedral but a lot of shops, houses, and other buildings were demolished. It was so sad to see all the damages from the earthquake because huge number of people moved to somewhere else and there aren't many people living there now. It used to be a lively city before the earthquake.

How is Christchurch now? Have you been to the Christchurch city lately? Have you seen the cathedral?

I hope to read more of your blog and comment on them :)

    All the best,

  4. Kia Ora Waisea,

I’m Dani, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I normally comment on blogs in the Kaikohekohe cluster ( Northland) but I have been lucky enough to get the chance to visit some blogs in the Uru Manuka cluster!

I think Christchurch Cathedral is one of the most beautiful cathedrals that we have in New Zealand. Did you know there are some cathedrals in Europe that have lasted for hundreds and hundreds of years? They have survived through wars and revolutions! I hope the decision is made to restore Christchurch cathedral so many generations to come can enjoy it. What do you think they should do with it?

I look forward to reading more of your blogs soon!

    -Dani
